If your current area code and number are available through Vonage, you can keep your current number. Although the list is growing, all area codes and numbers are not currently available, so it's possible you will have to choose a new number. The adaptor Vonage sends you has a built in router for single computer use.

Vonage is one of the only current VoIP providers that provides 911 capable service, although it is much different than traditional 911 service.

Vonage phone service also gives you the ability to choose additional "virtual numbers" you can add for $4.99 per number, per month. For example, you can live in Missouri and have a Missouri phone number. If you have friends or relatives in New York, you can add a New York number for them to call you locally. (This will depend on whether your area code is currently available)

If you need a toll free number, Vonage can issue you a new toll free number with a monthly charge of $4.99 and the first 100 minutes of incoming calls are free. Additional minutes are 4.9¢.

Disconnect Fee: Customer will be charged a disconnect fee of $39.99 per voice line upon termination of Service for any reason, at any time, or for convenience by Customer. The disconnect fee becomes due and payable immediately upon termination and will billed directly to Customer's credit card. If Customer has multiple lines, Customer will be charged a disconnect fee of $39.99 per line for each line disconnected. To receive a credit for the disconnect fee, Customer must return the Device(s) undamaged and in original condition within fourteen (14) days of termination.
